Creative Eva Air Introducing Hello Kitty Aircraft!

Remember Hello Kitty? Now Hello Kitty is on board with us!

Hello Kitty Creative and innovative, EVA worked with Sanrio to initiate its unique Hello Kitty Jet concept in 2005 and retired its first of the colorfully painted liveries in 2008. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, it began to launch its second-generation EVA Hello Kitty Jets in October 2011. Now, it offers a more complete experience and flies Hello Kitty Jets from Taipei to Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Fukuoka, Guam and more cities in Asia. Loads are up 5~10% and duty-free sales have increased 3~5% on Hello Kitty Jet routes since the carrier began to operate the themed aircraft.

EVA Air ran Hello Kitty flights from 2005 through 2008, and brought them back in 2011. They’ve been running Hello Kitty flights ever since, and current Hello Kitty routes have some of the highest load factors in their system (around 85%).

EVA operates five of the cheerful Hello Kitty aircraft, each with its own distinctive theme, including the Apple, Global, Magic, Happy Music and Speed Puff Jets. Hello Kitty Jet flights are not just for kids and the airline has made sure that the onboard experience is not boring by creating more than 100 special Hello Kitty service items and transforming everything from ordinary boarding passes to duty-free products into keepsakes and collectibles. Passengers include business travelers, families and fans alike and worldwide response suggests a market for EVA's Hello Kitty Jets that extends beyond Asia.

Special Amenities and Experience

There’s a dedicated Hello Kitty self-check-in area in Taipei. Passengers receive Hello Kitty boarding passes and baggage tags. Seats have Hello Kitty headrest covers, tissues, paper cups, utensils, milk bottles, snacks, handwashing liquid, hand lotion, meals and ice cream and more, such as Hello Kitty toilet paper.

Flight attendants wear Hello Kitty aprons. They take star molds and individually craft pats of butter to be part of the Hello Kitty motif with meals. Hello Kitty is a part of meal service.

Hello Kitty is in the entertainment system. It’s on the pillows. It’s in the lavatories. There’s tremendous and painstaking attention to Hello Kitty Detail.

Having been on board of the EVA Air long haul Hello Kitty 777, economy class contained 33 inch pitch (that’s two more inches of legroom than most US airlines offer) and seating is nine across, 3-3-3, means they squeeze one fewer seat into each row.

Premium economy is eight across, and has the kind of legroom you see in domestic first class. There are footrests and double-sized armrests between seats. Meal service is upgraded.

Business class is one of the best in the sky, four across all-aisle access reverse herringbone fully flat beds. They offer pre-order meal service and currently serve Krug champange.
